THE MAGNIFICENT ELEVEN

Posted by Chon On Blog

A rare photograph of the Magnificent Eleven. It was taken by our eldest brother-in-law (he was the only one with a camera then) in front of our house in Lorong Liku, Bakar Bata in Alor Setar.

This picture is ‘rare’ because in those days it was not often that we had a chance to get our photographs taken, and to get one of all eleven of us together was nearly impossible then.

It was taken in December 1970, when I was 9 years old. Back row, standing from left, Sibling Number 2 Halim, Number 5 Johari (deceased), Number 6 Mahadzir, Number 3 Sobrey. Second row, from left, Number 7 Rashida, Number 1 Zakiah, Number 4 Fuziyah, and Number 8 Ahmad Kamal. Front row, from left Chon-on-Blog aka Hardknocks, Number 11 Haslinda and Number 10 Salahuddin.

All grew up to be successful in their own rights. Between all eleven of us, we have 49 children, some of whom are now married and with children of their own. It would be interesting if we can all gather together for a complete family photograph! How I wish all of us could ‘balik kampung’ this Aidilfitri for another rare photo session. We will probably need a superwide angle lense to capture everyone in one picture.

If you want everyone to get together, i guess it will involve a lot of planning and coordinating. If all else fails, PAKSA!!

Pak Tham, Fitri's family every 2 years buat gathering where the cucu cicit keturunan his datuk akan berkumpul and they'll have a big family day...seriously, buat sukaneka lah, sewa khemah for tidur, pasang kolah for mandi, and then masak ramai-ramai and before semua balik, a big photo opp where they panggil photographer luar to buat potrait...siap semua kena pakai badge utk identify themselves coz ramai tak kenal antara satu sama lain...!

i reckon we could do something like that kalau nak, just semua kena pitch in lah...it would be so much fun if we do!

i miss kedah and fitri has yet to rasa raya kat rumah makmak...tahun ni pun tak dapat join kot coz i'm not in the condition to travel jejauh and most likely we'll be working on raya days.. :-(

Aaah bidadari ... I was just going to suggest that we seriously think of doing it, with you and Fitri as organisers (hahaha) tengok2 tak boleh balik lah pulak! Just anak-cucu-cicit Makmak, I think tak perlu pakai badge to identify each other pun. But sebab ramai, it will be a big event nevertheless.

Just throw the idea around, who knows akan jadi. Time is not on our side .....

next to impossible to get each and everybody to congregate..a classic example was when we were in Tok Bali last sunday. it took about an hour to berkumpul, with only 4 family members for a group photograph.

can u imagine to get 32 families together? it will take a great consultant company for us to engage to make the dream come true.

of course, we need to be prepared to be a sponsor.

Event manager kan ada in the family? Corporate comm expert pun ada :D

Self-sponsor lah. Semua nak kena sponsor mana boleh ....

Queen/Bidadari/3rd In Family: Anything is possible as long as we have the will to do it. As Queen said, time is not on our side

try and get everyone again for good old time shake...no harm suggesting kan?I know its a bit difficult if everyone staying all over the place good time will be a birthday celebration of an elderly.
